A 15-Day Journey Through Java: Alex’s Story

For many travelers, exploring Java is a dream that combines history, culture, and natural beauty. For Alex, an international guest who had been saving money for years, that dream became reality in the form of a 15-day tour across Java, organized by BandungDriver. Among the most memorable highlights was Nepal van Java, the hillside village of Dusun Butuh on Mount Sumbing. Its colorful houses stacked against steep slopes, terraced fields, and cool mountain air gave Alex the sense of stepping into another world.

The trip also fulfilled personal wishes. Alex longed to see a pepper plantation — something that couldn’t be found online. With persistence, our driver asked local villagers until they discovered one. Alex was delighted, exploring the garden and even bringing home pepper seedlings as a special souvenir.

In Dieng Plateau, Alex repeatedly soaked in natural hot springs, savoring the warmth against the biting cold of the highlands. In Yogyakarta, he floated through the dark underground river of Goa Pindul, marveling at the beauty hidden beneath the earth. And at every stop, he found himself enjoying Indonesian food, especially the rich flavors of Javanese cuisine that suited his taste perfectly.

But these were only a few chapters. His journey also took him to the ancient megalithic site of Gunung Padang in Cianjur, the cultural and natural charms of Garut, the dramatic landscapes of East Java, the sunrise over Mount Bromo, and many other places beloved by travelers.

From mountains to caves, from history to cuisine, Alex’s 15-day Java Tour adventure showed him the soul of Java. Yet he often reminded himself that the smooth flow of the trip was thanks to one thing he had asked for from the start: “Please assign the best driver, because a good journey depends on a good driver.” In the end, that choice made all the difference.
